St Benildus College provides a Catholic, LaSallian education rooted in a tradition which prepares young people for college and for life. The school seeks to educate students spiritually,  academically, physically and socially through the promotion of Christian values.
Each of the following aims are practiced in the context of the Lasallian ethos of the school which is grounded in Christian spirituality as lived by St. Benildus.

  • To foster a greater awareness that the human search for meaning is common to all peoples of all ages at all times.
  • To explore how this search for meaning has found, and continues to find, expression in religion.
  • To identify how understandings of God, religious traditions and in particular the Christian tradition have contributed to the culture in which we live and how they continue to have an impact on personal lifestyle, interpersonal relationships and relationships between individuals ang there communities.
  • To appreciate the richness of religious traditions and to acknowledge the non-religious interpretation of life.
  • To foster a religious literacy, cultivate religious understanding and lessen religious prejudice.
  • To contribute to the religious and moral development of the students.
  • To provide students with the opportunity to learn about Lasallian spirituality and tradition.
  • To encourage the students sense of belonging to their faith community, in particular those of the Catholic tradition, and to provide the opportunity for them to participate more fully in the Church’s liturgy and life, prayer, worship and retreats.

Through participation in R.E. class we believe the following will be achieved:

  • Students will have a positive understanding of the human person and the world around us.
  • Students will begin to have the skills and confidence to make free and intelligent religious decisions.
  • Students will search for a sense of purpose and personal significance rooted in the virtues of humanity itself, and his own religious faith.
  • Students will recognise the value of such Gospel characteristics as faith, hope, love, joy, forgiveness, justice and charity for their personal lives and the good of society as a whole.
  • Students will have explored the lives of good and holy people, including that of John Baptiste De La Salle.
  • Students will have a sense of the place that religion, religious beliefs and spirituality in general has played in the history of civilisation and its development.
  •  Students will have an experience of religious ritual, the Christian Sacraments and Prayer Services.
