Leaving
Certificate Accountancy 2009/2010
The study of Leaving Certificate Accounting
at St Benildus College develops the ability to identify, calculate,
measure and communicate financial and other relevant information to
allow for informed judgements and decision-making to take place.
The Course structure is designed to allow candidates to build on their
knowledge and understanding of both Financial and Management Accounting.
* The study of Financial Accounting enables
candidates to further develop their skills and techniques relating to
the structure, finance, management and control of entrepreneurial
organisations. It builds on Junior Certificate Bookkeeping and thus
enables candidates to extend their ability to prepare financial
statements and the analytical skills required to evaluate business
performance for a range of business organisations.
* The study of Management Accounting enables
candidates to further develop their skills and techniques in preparing
costing statements, including standard and absorption costing
techniques, for a range of production and service concerns, and to make
decisions including investment appraisal for more complex situations.
