What is
S.P.H.E.?
Social, Personal and Health Education provides students with the
opportunity to acquire the skills and competences required for life. It
focuses on the development of the student’s ability to make
informed decisions and to participate as an active and responsible
adult in society. It is a subject that responds directly to the demands
of modern life on the young person, playing a valuable role in their
progress to adulthood.
Department
Vision:
The S.P.H.E. Department of St. Benildus College views its mission as
the daily provision of our ethos in a classroom setting. Enshrined in
the ethos of the College is a commitment to the development of the
student as a whole person. This holistic vision encompasses all aspects
of the person – physical, mental, emotional, intellectual and
moral – and recognises the complex interplay between these
aspects in a teenager’s life. Our fundamental mission is to
support and encourage in our students a positive self-image, a sense of
security and a high degree of self-worth, which will predispose them to
benefit from school life at St. Benildus College.
